He had hired 28-year-old Lucinda Cardoza-Hernandez as a live in babysitter for his children after she answered an ad posted at a local store. Police said she had just moved in Tuesday.

Lopez said Cardoza-Hernandez asked if she could take the kids to the store and was told no shortly after 5 p.m. When Lopez and his wife later returned from an errand, Cardoza-Hernandez and the children were gone.

Using Cardoza-Hernandez’s cell phone information detectives were able to have her signal pinged. She and the children were soon found, safe and unharmed, near SW Murray Boulevard and SW Beard Road.

Investigators said Cardoza-Hernandez told them she had been depressed and driving around with the kids with her made her feel better. She was arrested and charged with kidnapping and custodial interference. Other news on insurance
